About Us
Are you looking for a church where you can think deeply and be spiritually curious? A place where you can experience God’s presence in your life? We’re here to support you on your spiritual journey.
Since 1902, our church has had a healing presence in Ridgefield. At that early date, several people, who had discovered a deeper connection with God and found healing as a result of their study of Christian Science, began to meet in private homes and later in rented spaces. For many years they met in the building that is now the office space for the Aldrich Museum of Modern Art, adjacent to the current church building, which was built in the early 1960s, at 260 Main Street, Ridgefield.

Our goal has always been to bring healing and comfort to individuals and the community. We’re here to help you discover and experience your relationship with God, find the deep spiritual message of the Bible without all the legalism, and learn how to follow Christ more closely in your everyday life.
We’re part of a world-wide healing movement dedicated to returning to the original Christianity of Jesus, with his message of love, healing, and salvation.
The Church of Christ, Scientist was established by Mary Baker Eddy, who experienced a dramatic healing in 1866 after the doctors had given up all hope for her life. This healing impelled her to search the Bible for how she had been healed. Through the inspiration she gained others were healed through her prayers.

In 1875 she published her book, Science and Health, to share what she had learned and to serve as a guide book to spiritual healing. Four years later she started her church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist. Affectionately known as The Mother Church, it’s headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts and has affiliate or “Branch” churches all over the world.
First Church of Christ, Scientist here in Ridgefield is one of these many branches. Our hope is to bring spiritual solutions to the problems of daily life, on an individual basis as well as in the local and global community.
