What to expect when you visit
Have you ever felt awkward when you visited a new church for the first time? You didn’t know anyone there. You didn’t know when to stand and when to sit. The way they did things was different from what you were used to.
We thought it might be helpful just give you a peek at what to expect when you visit.
First of all, you’re always welcome. And please, come as you are and be yourself. We care about what’s in your heart and how we can be supportive of your spiritual journey. And just so you know, we’re a small group.
Our services are designed to be contemplative. It’s a time to ponder deeply and engage with the ideas being shared. So don’t expect flashy entertainment or a big praise band.
We always sing hymns and pray together.
Because we’re a lay church and don’t have ordained clergy, the “Sermon” on Sunday is actually a Bible lesson read from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook. We think of these two books as our Pastor [Visit Now].
On Wednesday evenings, after hymns, a Bible lesson, and prayer, we set aside time each week for people to share how God is working in their lives. Sometimes it’s a healing, a time of God’s protection or guidance, or just a spiritual Aha! moment. It’s a time to express gratitude. We’d love to hear how God is working in your life.
And speaking of gratitude, each year we have a special service on Thanksgiving Day, where there’s plenty of time to share what you’re grateful for.
After the service, we’d love to meet you.
