Core Beliefs

What do you want to know before visiting a church?

You might wonder whether a church is large or small (we’re a small congregation). You might also want to know what kinds of activities there are and how you can take part.

But one question matters most when deciding if a church is right for you: How do they understand God?

In Christian Science, we see God very differently from the common stereotypes. God is not a distant or vengeful power punishing people for mistakes. And God is not merely a kind presence offering moral support from afar.

We understand God as infinite Love - always present, always caring, and actively guiding and helping us. This divine Love protects, heals, and gently corrects when needed, leading each of us toward a better understanding of God and ourselves.

Our Core Beliefs

We’ll try to keep things simple and not say everything in churchy language.

God is infinite, ever-present, all-powerful, and good.

God is Life, Truth, and Love and has a positive impact on your life.

You have a direct relationship with God and don’t need an intermediator.

You are God’s image and likeness. As God’s creation you reflect Godlike qualities and attributes.

As the Son of God, the Messiah, Jesus set an example of how to live our lives. When you follow his teachings, you can learn to live and love like he did and bring hope and healing to people the way he did.

Whether it’s all the challenges and struggles on a personal level or the wars and calamities on a global scale, the material world is not the ultimate reality in life. Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is at hand. When you begin to glimpse that God’s kingdom of heaven is actually here already—spiritually—it gives you an awareness of a deeper spiritual reality, which helps bring resolution to whatever challenge you may be facing.

There are spiritual laws (like love, forgiveness, and focusing on good, just to name a few) that you can practice in your daily life that bring healing and peace of mind.

Our focus is to get back to the original message of Jesus, without all the legalism and theological debates, and to follow Christ in our daily lives.
